Adele Yunck’s Online Competition Obedience Classes

In 2020, with her dog training school shut down due to COVID, Adele Yunck began to create online competition obedience courses.

The online course videos and handouts are hosted on the Thinkific website. You can find Northfield Dog Training’s main page here.

When you sign up for a course, you have 6 months of full access to all the videos and handouts for the course. You may also extend that access for the cost of $10/month by contacting Adele.

Students may sign up to audit any of these courses at any time. You may progress at your own speed. If you are self-motivated, this can be a great option for you.

There are two possible avenues for working spots:

Hybrid version: students watch a series of videos for each module and begin training at home. Students meet in person once a week with Adele to review the skills started at home.

Zoom version: Adele occasionally offers a Zoom meeting every other week for students who don’t live in her area. Up to 6 students take turns working on the class skills on camera, with real-time critiques from Adele. Adele records the Zoom classes and shares the video with class members for review. We use the Slack app to communicate and share information about the course.

  • Footwork for heeling
  • Left, right, and about turns
  • Pace changes (slow and fast)
  • Halts
  • Right and Left Circles —> Figure 8s
  • Various heeling drills for improving heeling skills

Maneuvers Online with Adele Yunck – Audit only

Maneuvers Online Class

Teach your dog critical skills for competition obedience and Rally:

  • Back up
  • Side-step to left and right
  • Powerful heel starts
  • Tight turns to the right and left

Before starting this course: your dog should have basic attention on you, and you should be able to get your dog to sit from a stand and stand from a sit.

Problems that the course will help solve:

  • Dog’s lack of body awareness
  • Heel position errors (lagging, forging, wide, side-winding, crowding)
  • Recommended minimum space for training: 10′ x 10′ area.
  • Equipment needed: leash, collar, treats, perch (4-quart rubber horse feed tub works well – the Recommended equipment video will explain further), small rug or crate pad. Optional: touch stick for a small dog (a 3-foot dowel would work for this).
  • There are over 3.5 hours of video lessons, divided into six modules, each with 8-12 video lessons. All of the course videos and handouts are hosted on the Thinkific platform. You will have a full 6 months of access to all the videos starting the first time you sign in to the course player.
  • The Maneuvers introduced in the FCOOL 7-12 course are the early videos from this Maneuvers On-Line course. If you take this course before the FCOOL 7-12 course, contact me for a special discount. If you want to go beyond the steps we do in the FCOOL 7-12 course, you can also get a discount on this course to extend the Maneuvers skill set.
