Hybrid Fundamentals of Comp Obed Online – Working

Weeks: 6
Length: 60 minutes per session
Prerequisites:  Puppy Kindergarten or Household Manners class or something equivalent, and a desire to improve your training skills beyond the basic level.

Hybrid FCOOL (Fundamentals of Competition Obedience Online) is a hybrid competition obedience course, with online instructional videos and downloadable handouts, and a once-a-week in-person class. This class is geared toward puppies with some basic training and trainers who are interested in training for obedience and Rally titles. In the course, you will learn how to begin teaching a wide variety of crucial skills for competition-bound puppies. These include different techniques for training with food; attention, position changes (sit, down, stand), cookie-toss recalls, beginning sit stay, perch and platform work, beginning target work, beginning retrieve work, and general handling for grooming and veterinary care. All the video lessons are hosted on the Thinkific platform. A working spot in the course gives you a chance to get feedback from Adele during the in-person class meetings, scheduled every week. In addition to the 6 weeks of in-person classes, you will have full access to all of the course video lessons for a full 6 months from when you start the lessons. The expectation is that you will watch the lesson videos, practice them at home, and then come to class to get feedback on your progress from Adele.

Rally Practice

Weeks: 6
Length: 60-90 minutes each week, depending on class attendance
Prerequisites:  Knowledge of the AKC rally signs at the level of course you are interested in.

There is potentially a class every week Adele is in town. She sets up a nested course with levels appropriate for those in attendance for a given week. This is not an introductory type of course, but for those trainers with at least some rally experience who want a chance to practice courses with coaching. Adele follow each person through the course on each run, offering suggestions for how to better perform a station (or more correctly). Because of the setup involved, she needs a commitment each week from at LEAST 4 people to hold a class in a given week. In order to communicate with potential attendees, we have a Facebook group where we can communicate about attendance. If you are interested in attending and would like to be added to the Facebook group, or if you are not on Facebook but are interested in attending, please email Adele privately at abyunck@gmail.com. We are now doing sign up on this google sheet each week (make sure to look for the ‘Rally class’ sheet). Cost is $25 for a drop-in class and $120 for 6 weeks of class, which don’t have to be used on consecutive weeks, but please use them up within 6 months of the first class you attend.

Please pay Adele directly so she records your payment in her attendance sheet.

You may use the same class payment to attend any of Adele’s on-going classes (Proofing, Novice Practice, Thursday Open and Rally Practice).
