Instructor Rita Tyler

Rita Tyler Rita earned her first Championship on her Australian Cattle Dog Cara in 1989 (CH. Bryn Mawr�s Cara Weejun). She has been instructing Agility and Obedience classes since 1999, while successfully competing in Agility, Obedience, Lure Coursing and Scent Work with her dogs. She has also trained and handled in Agility with many different breeds owned by others, including: Belgian Tervurens, Golden Retrievers, Border Collies, Belgian Sheepdogs, Australian Shepherds, and more. Rita has been blessed with exceptional working dogs, and she is most proud of the bond she has formed with each and every one of the dogs she has handled and trained, for they have made her a better handler. To dog fanciers, and pet owners- Don’t judge a book by its cover, take the time to look within and find the beauty of its contents. What she likes most about training and being an instructor is problem-solving and breaking down the exercises to the simplest form. She enjoys when the owners have achieved their desired training goals, and she does her best to help make that possible.

Tyler was Rita’s second American Staffordshire Terrier (1998-2012), and also competed in Obedience and Agility until he was retired at age 3 due to an injury.
Journey (MACH 5 Sivhana Journey UD, GO, MXG, MJS, T2B3, CAA, CL1-H)
Journey is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier born on Thanksgiving in 2010 and is a South African Import, Journey earned her first Mach at 2 years 9 months old. Journey is currently being shown by Shannon Tyler (Daughter)

Our experiences at Northfield Dog Training have tremendously enhanced our Golden Retriever's abilities and our overall relationship with him. We have all learned so much. We are honored to have Adele as an advanced obedience instructor and can't wait for what is next. Terry has also taught and helped us so much with the puppy training and to receive a Canine Good Citizen Title. All of our other interactions with folks there have been great as well. Wonderful teachers and people overall!

I have two dogs attending agility classes with Karen Tudor at NDT. Talk about a fabulous experience! Karen adjusts her teaching style to meet the needs of her students and their dogs. She understands the training goals each student has and helps them to work toward their personal goal. It doesn’t matter if your goal is to compete or to just have more fun with your furry best friend. If you are looking for a friendly and supportive environment that produces results when you are willing to put in the work, run (don’t walk) to Northfield!

Great place to learn agility and hone your skills whether you are beginner or seasoned pro! Karen Tudor is an awesome trainer whether you are just starting out or looking for help in competition. She gives you the basics in the intro classes with a lot of foundation work needed for you to build on for future plus creating a better bond with you and your dog. For the beginner class, it's a great place to start to see if agility something for you and your dog. 🙂. In the advanced classes, she provides tools needed to compete in agility with your four legged friend. For competition level, you are given feedback to make your weekend trials more successful! Karen ROCKS!!
